Russell Group welcomes plans to expand information available on UCAS

06 February 2023

The Russell Group has welcomed plans announced today (6 February) by the Government to expand the UCAS website so it offers more information on technical and vocational qualifications, including degree apprenticeships.

If students are thinking about what and where to study, either as a school leaver or later in life, it is important to consider the full range of options that may be available to them.

University websites and admission teams have a wealth of information available, and the Russell Group Informed Choices website can also help students consider options even at an early stage when looking at A-level and T-level choices. Now, UCAS has announced a welcome expansion of its UCAS Hub to provide more information on apprenticeships alongside undergraduate courses.

Commenting on today's announcements, Dr Hollie Chandler, Head of Higher Education Policy at the Russell Group said:

“Deciding what and where to study when you leave school or are looking to retrain is a massive decision. That’s why it is vital that we all work together to make it easy for people to understand their options, whether that’s an undergraduate course, a PhD or an apprenticeship. Our Informed Choices website provides information to help people make these important decisions.

“Many Russell Group universities offer higher or degree apprenticeships and we welcome the move by UCAS to put more information about apprenticeships onto their website so it’s even easier for students to consider every kind of course that is available and make the choice that is right for them."
