Russell Group response to NHS Long Term Workforce Plan

In response to the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan, which sets out a path to double medical school training places to 15,000 by 2031, a Russell Group spokesperson said:

"The commitment to double the number of medical school training places is welcome given the need to boost the pipeline of healthcare staff to the NHS.

"It is important that any increase is fully funded and rolled out in a co-ordinated and sustainable way. We would urge the Government to work closely with universities and all their health partners so this ambitious expansion of places can be delivered to protect the future of the NHS and benefit patients."
