Five-point plan on access

08 August 2018

Longer-term strategies for access and participation for students from disadvantaged backgrounds would allow universities to develop more ambitious strategies and targets.

There must still be reviews carried out at milestones along the way, but reporting on a five-year timescale would mean that universities could carry out programmes that make a bigger impact.

The Russell Group has called on the Office for Students (OfS) to make this change to help them increase the number of students from traditionally under-represented groups, including black students and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The plans also include support for students to succeed while they are studying and after graduation.
