Commenting on Times Higher Education’s international institutions rankings, Director General of the Russell Group Dr Wendy Piatt said:

These rankings underline the success that our members have in attracting the brightest and best from across the world. A quarter of staff and more than a third of academics at our institutions are from overseas. As many as 37% of first year students are from outside the UK. These indispensable staff and students from across the globe help us maintain our position as a world-leading research and education nation.

The UK should continue to reassure and welcome with open arms the international staff and students who add so much to the dynamism and diversity of our universities and fuel our invaluable contribution to a thriving economy and entrepreneurial culture.
