Scottish Government announcement on additional support for research

06 May 2020

In response to the Scottish Government announcement of a one-off £75 million increase in funding for Scotland’s universities to help protect their world-leading research programmes against the financial impact of COVID-19, Dr. Tim Bradshaw, Chief Executive of the Russell Group, said:

"We welcome today’s announcement of additional funding for university research in Scotland, which will help protect Scotland's world class research base from the disruption caused by COVID-19. The Scottish government has moved quickly, recognising universities’ contribution in the fight against the outbreak and their crucial role in the social and economic recovery post-crisis. The use of capital investment to deliver support is particularly welcome, acknowledging and protecting university research as a national asset."
