Russell Group response to Horizon Europe Guarantee extension

In response to the Government announcement today (15 March 2022) that the Guarantee for Horizon Europe applicants announced last November will be extended to awards signed by the end of 2022, Dr Tim Bradshaw, Chief Executive of the Russell Group, said:

 “The Government’s extension of the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee is welcome news. Covering a second wave of successful applicants whose grants are expected to be signed in 2022 provides welcome clarity for researchers and will help keep UK involvement in crucial research projects on track. We trust this will provide a real boost to researcher confidence both here and in Europe while negotiations continue. 

“We are encouraged to see the Government restate its determination to secure Horizon association and we hope an agreement can be finalised as soon as possible. Association would be a win-win for the UK and our international collaborators at a time when cooperation across Europe is more vital than ever.”
