The Global Research-Intensive Universities Network, representing leading research universities across the UK, Canada, Europe, the United States, Japan, Germany and Australia, have issued a joint declaration to underline the importance of increasing international research collaboration in order to benefit the public good.
Representatives of international university associations met in Ottawa last week, hosted by Canada's U15, to discuss how they could leverage their global connections and research excellence for collective societal benefit. The new declaration comes as rising global tensions, and an increasingly turbulent international political landscape, put at risk these universities' ability to contribute to a better future for everyone.
The Ottawa Declaration outlines GRIUN universities' commitment to working together to help them collectively:
The Global Research-Intensive Universities Network brings together associations that collectively represents 158 of the leading research universities in the world, comprising: the Association of American Universities, German U15, Group of Eight Australia, League of European Research Universities (LERU), Research University 11 (Japan), the Russell Group and U15 Canada.
