The University of Southampton provides tailored support to care-experienced and estranged students to ensure a smooth transition to the university and continued success while on their course

A pre-arrival transition day in September introduces students to academic skills, support services, and financial guidance.

Care-experienced (and estranged) students receive welcome packs containing vouchers and other essentials to help them settle in, and a dedicated staff contact offers consistent support throughout their time at Southampton. Financial support includes a £2,000 per year Care Leaver Bursary with flexible payment options, access to technology grants, and either a year-round bus pass or gym membership. To help celebrate students' successes, the university covers the cost of graduation robing and photography.
