Experience Heritage was founded in 2018 by a University of York graduate, Bethany Watrous, who is originally from the USA. 

Experience Heritage brings history to life through innovative digital storytelling and examples of their services include augmented reality experiences, interactive heritage apps and digital animation. 

Bethany was supported by the University of York’s Enterprise Office as she developed her plan for Experience Heritage. She was then given a place within the Phase One Incubator Programme at the University where she built her business.  

Experience Heritage has worked with clients such as the National Trust and the National Paralympics Heritage Trust. Experience Heritage was named a Global 100 winner, recognized as ‘Leading Software Company’ in 2023 and Yorkshire Business Insider has included Bethany in their 42 inspirational Yorkshire business leaders under the age of 42.
